Being from Texas
Being from Texas definitely helped me connect with Richard. It was 5:45 am, and Amanda and I were standing outside of the Dillon’s. “This is the land of bulls and livestock, stallions and mares, ranches and cowboys,” I said. “I have seen my fair share of belt buckles, guns, and high school football games,” she said. “It’s not the accent, it’s the content,” I said. “It’s discernment, in the sense of perceiving clearly with the mind or senses,” she said. We passed a vote to keep the category “Wikipedians from Texas” from merging with the category “Wikipedians in Texas.” It’s not the same thing. “The right smile can open even the hardest heart,” Richard once told me. The first right smile I saw reminded me of the Rodeo.
